  • Parent must use the designated route (embedded below) for pick up and drop off. Again, we saw some close calls last week!
EARLY PICK UP OR AUTHORIZED PICK UP
Please email ftsadmin@icnmasjid.org in the morning, when planning to pick up your child early.
Please email ftsadmin@icnmasjid.org if you have arranged for someone else to pick up your child and they are not on the authorized pick up list, even if it is the parent of another student.  You may also email the same address to add a permanent authorized pick up person.

Principals Newsletter

As Salaamu ‘Alaikum FTS Families,
There was  a lot of excitement at school this week!  Monday we celebrated 100th day, today was Pre-K’s bake sale (Thank you to pre-K volunteers for a phenomenal job!), and tomorrow is ICN FTS night at Chuck-E-Cheese’s.  We even had a camera person at school today, filming us for the fundraising dinner video.  Whew – even though I’m not talking, I feel like I should be out of breath…!
But wait, there’s more…  Next week is Spirit Week.  It’s just a fun week for the students to show some school spirit. Details are in the Events section, below.
Since these days we are really trying to raise funds for the new school building, a display to track our progress might be helpful.  Next week, inshaAllah, we will put up a “masjid-o-meter” in the foyer.  For every $500 each class raises, they will get to add a golden brick to the masjid.  Remember, in addition to a donation, other ideas can help raise funds as well, such as corporate matching programs and crowd funding.  Every bit counts, and every du’a counts, too.
Upcoming Events

Feb 16
ICN FTS Night at Chuck E Cheese’s.  As a special treat, Chuck-E himself will visit our school tomorrow at 10 a.m.!  Our students will also get a coupon for 10 free tokens during the event.  The magic words to say before every purchase are “ICN Full Time School.”
Feb 19
President’s Day – NO SCHOOL
Feb 20 – 23
Spirit Week:
Monday (no school – Presidents’ Day)
Tuesday (Pajama Day)
Wednesday (Crazy hat or crazy hair day)
Thursday (Costume Day)
Friday (Popcorn and Movie Day)
March 2
Zainab’s toy store
March 3
ground breaking ceremony at 248th location (details to come)
March 10
ICN Fundraising Dinner
March 16
All School Program
Important Reminders
  • Pledge forms were sent last Thursday – Please email me or Sr. Farhana if you send a pledge form or donation with your child, to ensure we can safely retrieve it and track FTS funds.
  • New school name suggestions – we will be taking suggestions for a few more days, so feel free to email them in.  Thanks to those parents who already have done so!
  • Please continue to follow the traffic pattern and safe driving practices in the school parking lot.
  • A form is attached for anyone who has a business and would like to advertise in the ICN yearbook or the ICN Full Time School Yearbook.
Thank you and have a great weekend! Wassalaamu ‘Alaikum.

As Salaamu ‘Alaikum Famillies,
We would like to recognize a very special Kindergartener for setting an example in community work that goes above and beyond expectations!  Ma sha Allah, Zainab Alhasan feels very strongly about helping our school to grow beyond Kindergarten  On her own merit, Zainab has brainstormed several ways to try to raise funds for the new building on 248th Street!  The first phase of that building includes plans for a school.
Setting up a gift shop for her classmates is one of her ventures.  On Friday, March 2nd, at dismissal time, Zainab has gotten permission to set up a stall in the foyer, where students can purchase small gifts and toys.  May Allah give her barakah and lots of success in this, and in everything she does!  We look forward to supporting you, Zainab!

PRE-K BAKE SALE
Bring your appetite next Thursday, February 15th for the bake sale, organized by Pre-K Parents.
Sales begin at 11am and go until 3pm.

ICN FTS NIGHT AT CHUCK-E-CHEESE’S
This event has been rescheduled to next Friday, February 16th, from 3 to 9 pm, due to the expected snow storm and dangerous driving conditions.
Thank you so much for so many RSVP’s that you would be attending!  We hope to see you next Friday inshaAllah!
ZAINAB’S GIFT SHOP
Friday, March 2, at dismissal time

ICN FUNDRAISING DINNER:  “BREAKING GROUND”
Saturday, March 10 at Ashiyana Banquets

ALL SCHOOL PROGRAM:  “GIVE THANKS TO ALLAH”

Important Reminders:

Letter:
Please be on the lookout for a special envelope in the take-home folders today.
Traffic:
Unfortunately, we have seen only a few vehicles following the pick up and drop off route.  Please remember that neglecting safe driving practices can have dire consequences on the safety of our own children!
– Please follow the designated traffic route
– Please do not drive past a stopped school bus on either side
– Please do not park in the handicapped spaces at pick up or drop off time unless you have a visible permit
To those who have been driving safely and following the traffic route, thank you so much for your conscientiousness!  Special duas for you!

Outreach

In an effort to practice what we teach about the rights of others upon us, we have adopted a cause for the year:  InshaAllah we are teaming up with Zakat Foundation to help provide food and shelter for malnourished (starved) and displaced Rohingya.  This Monday we watched a presentation about how Allah SWT may test some of us by giving us many material blessings, and He may test others by taking such blessings away.  If we are blessed with such bounties, then we should show gratitude by sharing and helping other less fortunate.  Those others can help us even more so, by making dua for us.
For the remainder of the school year, our Friday Sadaqah collections will be dedicated to the Rohingya cause.  Additional donations can be sent as cash or checks to Zakat Foundation through our school.  Please feel free to contact the office with any questions.

Important Reminders

– Sleeping Bags and bedding for nap students were sent home today.  Please wash and return these items by Monday.  There are so many viruses going around – we hope this will help in keeping everyone healthy.
– We are pleased that our new website was launched this week!  If you have not done so, please check it out at https://fts.icnmasjid.org/
Have a happy and healthy weekend!  Thank you and salaamu ‘alaikum.
