Principal’s Newsletter 6/10/21

As salaamu ‘alaikum ICN Noor Academy Families,

Today is the last day of the 2020-21 school year!  As we pack up the toolkits and yoga mats, and say our good-byes, I reflect on how nervous we felt returning to hybrid instruction this spring.  We were so pleased that our students came back, ready to hit the ground running.  They walked in with smiles behind their masks, and an attitude that said, “I’m ready to learn!”  Barring some internet glitches, this has been one of the smoothest semesters I have ever witnessed, mashaAllah.  A huge part of the credit goes to you – the parents and families – for being patient and helpful when it came to adapting to policy changes, keeping up with the online schedules and assignments, and teaching your kids about safety before they returned to school.  I cannot thank you enough for supporting our school.  This sentiment is something that truly makes our school community feel like a family, and I am ever grateful to you all.

In case you missed the newsletter from a couple of weeks ago, the plan for fall is to return to full in-person instruction.  Our school will have grades Pre-K through 3rd.  Currently enrollment for Pre-K, KG, and 1st grade is full.  To add your child’s name to the waiting list please email ftsadmin@icnmasjid.org.  Seats are still open in 2nd and 3rd grade.  If the Illinois State Board of Education changes the social distancing requirement further, we may be able to add a few more seats to Kindergarten and 1st grade, and will be contacting those on the waiting list in first come first serve order.  We are hopeful for some good news from the the CDC and ISBE this summer.  We will keep all registered families updated as we receive updates.

We had intended on offering a summer camp program, but unfortunately, we have not been able to do so.  InshaAllah, we hope to get an early start in planning for next year so we can offer a great summer camp in 2022!
Finally, this year has certainly been unprecedented, and I am grateful to Allah SWT to guiding us through the uncertainty.   We are hopeful that next fall there will be a better, more informed, more prepared return to “normal,” inshaAllah!  With that, thanks once again to all parents, grandparents, caregivers, students, school staff, and volunteers.  We hope you have a fantastic summer, and look forward to seeing you in August!

With salaam and warm regards,
