Principal’s Newsletter 3/19/20

As Salaamu ‘Alaikum ICN Noor Academy Families,
I hope this email finds you all in good health and good spirits. One week of “remote” learning is almost complete.  Seeing students doing activities at home has been the most heartwarming part of our week!  Our sincere thanks to everyone for your enthusiastic response, turning in homework tracking sheets, and the adorable student photos and videos you have been sending.
That said, we know that this sudden change brings different challenges for each family.  Balancing work or work from home, having children at home, doing homework, adjusting to the requirements of social distancing — all may look different in each household.  Please know that our teachers are facing these challenges also, and are doing the best they can to provide some continuity of learning amid these circumstances.  They continue to plan lessons, adjust them for a new format, check student work, and respond to communication from parents as needed.
I would like to remind you that assignments that are sent home are not being graded, and there is no expectation that parents will replace the role of teachers or be expected to introduce new topics.  The work is only being tracked for completion.  Please try not to take remote learning as a stress.  Especially at this young age, I would recommend encouraging your children to show you how much they have learned and just helping them do the best they can.  And play.  Play with them and have fun!
There is still some uncertainty about what will happen in the next several weeks.  InshaAllah I will do my best to keep you informed regarding school plans to reopen, extend remote learning, or other possibilities.  As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions.
Thank you and salaam,
—
